Our external staff
ONDRAF/NIRAS can perform its tasks either by making use of its own resources or by subcontracting to third parties operating under its responsibility and under its supervision, including companies in which it has a shareholding.

In practice, the Agency subcontracts the transport of radioactive waste to specialised carriers. Belgoprocess, a subsidiary of ONDRAF/NIRAS based in Dessel, is responsible for the bulk of waste processing and conditioning operations, and for interim storage.

For studies and research projects, ONDRAF/NIRAS collaborates with universities, research consultancies such as Belgatom, research centres such as SCK·CEN, which is its partner in the EURIDICE EIG (Economic Interest Grouping) venture, engineering consultancies such as Tractebel, and other specialised companies, both at home and abroad.
