At the request of the European Commission and in close collaboration with its European colleagues, ONDRAF/NIRAS has developed a CD-Rom on radioactive waste management in the European Union, the cover of which is shown in the picture opposite. The result is an informative, didactical tool, unique in Europe, not only because it takes stock of radioactive waste management in the 15 member states but also because it approaches the radioactive waste issue in an illustrated and above all ludic manner.

The CD-Rom is made up of two parts:

First of all, it contains a reference part that explains in detail, with numerous illustrations, the phenomenon of radioactivity, its effects on man and the environment, the best means of protecting oneself against these effects, the origin of radioactive waste, etc.
But most importantly, and that's where its originality lies, this CD-Rom presents the principles and decisions applied in each member state of the European Union regarding radioactive waste management. This CD-Rom is thus a fabulous tool of synthesis and comparison designed to meet the expectations of a public of all ages.

In addition to this reference part, you will find a fascinating and interesting game on radioactive waste management. Thanks to " Raybuster ", it is now up to you to take up the challenge of managing radioactive waste safely! Your mission is to confine, transport and store the radioactive waste safely. Can you handle it?

"Raybuster" is a first-rate didactical tool designed to initiate users of all ages to radioactive waste management in a playful manner and in its own way - radioactive waste is far better managed in reality than the player will ever be able to manage it.

ONDRAF/NIRAS is pleased to be able to offer this CD-Rom free of charge in French, Dutch and English. You can order it directly from this website by checking the corresponding box in our list of publications and completing the order form below.
